CHIKA HOUSE will provide the resident the use of a Room/Bed, Living Space, shared space, and utilities, from the date of check-in (the check-in date) to the check-out date or the end of the semester (which ever is sooner).

The Resident is responsible for paying the required accommodation fee and complying with all the booking terms as well as rules and regulations attached to this booking. Rules and regulations are available in each room. ALL FEES MUST BE PAID IN ADVANCE.

 

Fees must be fully paid before check-in. Residents can only check-in AFTER receiving a check-in clearance.

 

Where required, management reserves the right to change the accommodation fees and utility charges as and when they see fit. New charges will apply immediately unless your booking has been placed.

 

Please note that refunds for accommodation fees paid shall be given in the following manner:

 

  • For students, Fee Paid less processing charge (30%) will be refunded if refund request is made less than 14 days after payment AND more than 3 weeks before start of the semester. For avoidance of doubt, the "start of the semester" is set as 1st of September (for first semester), and 1st February (for second semester). Please note that if there are strikes or delays in school re-openings, these semester date may change depending on the University enrolled in.

  • For NSS personnel, Fee Paid less processing charge (30%) will be refunded if refund request is made less than 14 days after payment AND more than 3 weeks before start of each part of the NSS yearly schedule. For the avoidance of doubt, the dates of the parts of the NSS yearly schedule are 1st September and 1st March every year.

  • For both NSS and Students, no refund will be given if less than full payment was made, regardless of any other factors. 

  • For both Students and NSS, if refund request is made less than14 days after payment, but less than 3 weeks before the start of a semester or part of the year (for NSS), no Refunds will be given

  • For both Students and NSS, if refund request is made more than14 days after payment, No Refunds will be given

  • After check-in No Refunds will be given

 

When required, you may be required to change rooms at Management’s reasonable request.

 

This booking is personal to you and is not transferable.

 

Upon termination, the Resident will vacate the room by 4 pm of the check-out date, as will be communicated to the Resident. The resident under this residency has no right to occupy the  room/bed beyond the time paid for. Any belongings left in rooms after this date, without the express consent of  Caretaker/Proprietor will be deemed to be unwanted and may be disposed of after a period of 2 days without notice to you or be subject to a charge for the time it is left within the room.

 

Failure to pay any fees or charges by any agreed due date will result in the resident being issued with a Notice to Quit in writing. 3 days’ notice will be given and the resident will be required to leave the accommodation.

 

Where communal areas are not maintained in an acceptable state of cleanliness, extra charges will be imposed for extra cleaning

 

Residents who have appliances that are not rated at least 2 stars energy efficient may be required to pay an extra GHC50 for electricity

 

Residents will pay extra for electricity, for each of the following allowed appliances. These will be charged as a single payment at the beginning of the semester.

TV: +GHC 100 per semester

Fridge: +GHC 300 per semester (Main & Annex A)

Fridge: + GHC400 per semester (Annex B) 

Electric Kettle: +GHC 250 per semester

Blender: +GHC 150 per semester

Each room may have only one TV or Fridge, so if your roommate already has a TV and/or Fridge, you cannot bring another in.

 

The following appliances are STRICTLY NOT ALLOWED:

  1. Standing Fans

  2. Freezers

  3. Electric Cookers

  4. Personal Microwave Ovens

  5. Electric Heaters

  6. Hairdryers, Hair curlers or Hair Straighteners

  7. Rice Cookers

  8. Electric Fryers

LIABILITY

 

By booking, accepting, and checking into a bed/room at any Chika House, you accept to abide by these booking terms, and all rules and regulations and to be liable for all and any damages and or charges without limit that may be caused or incurred directly by you or be contributed to by your actions and/or inactions.
